Veazie Police Investigating Burglary at Convenience Store

About $2,700 dollars worth of cash and merchandise were stolen from the Veazie Mini Mart on State Street, according to police.The burglary happened between about 4:00-6:00 a.m. Monday.Veazie police said 10 cases of beer and 40 cartons of cigarettes were taken, as well as a few hundred dollars in cash.According to authorities, the intruders cut the phone line outside of the building to disable the alarm and then shattered the store’s glass doorway.Store owner, Manjit Singh, said the burglary is a devastating setback for his business.”It’s very painful. Business is slow. I’m sorry. And still you can see these empty shelves,” said Singh.Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Veazie Police Department at 947-2358.
