Four Insurance Companies Ordered to Cease Operating in Maine 

Maine Insurance Superintendent Eric Cioppa is ordering four companies to cease doing business in the state and to pay civil penalties of $260,000.Cioppa says United States Contractors Trust, Real Benefits Association, Metropolitan Business Alliance LLC and Access Health Now violated the state’s insurance laws. The investigation was initiated after the Maine Insurance Bureau received complaints of unpaid medical bills.Cioppa says United States Contractors Trust, Real Benefits Association and Metropolitan Business Alliance engaged in unlicensed transactions and that they were assisted by Access Health Now.He says Maine policy holders received little in return for their premiums. He urges residents to contact the bureau to make sure insurers are properly licensed.
