Dover-Foxcroft Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Brother’s Death

A man from Dover-Foxcroft is going to prison for 9 years for shooting his brother to death.A spokesperson with the Attorney General’s Office says 23-year-old Steven Mayo pleaded guilty Thursday in Piscataquis County Superior Court to manslaughter. He was originally charged with murder and pleaded not guilty last July.Steven Mayo shot 20-year-old Ryan Mayo in the head in May of last year. The two brothers lived next door to each other on French RoadCourt documents say the night of the shooting, Steven called his father and said Ryan wouldn’t stop doing donuts in his driveway on his ATV.Steven told his father he later went to Ryan’s house to disable his brother’s ATV and Ryan fired at him with a shotgun.The documents say Steven then got a rifle and shot at Ryan as he was heading back in his house.
