Low Voter Turnout No Surprise To Polling Officials

Updated 3 years ago

Slow and steady might be a good way to describe voter turnout at the Bangor Civic Center Tuesday.Only about 10% of registered voters turned out to cast their ballot in Bangor, but City Clerk, Lisa Goodwin, says that number was expected.Goodwin says absentee ballot votes were down by 50% this year, which is usually a good indicator as to how many people will be at the polls come election day.A new law, passed last year which requires absentee ballots to be turned in three days before election day, could have also influenced voters.
