Bangor Holds First Bark For Life Event in Region

Dogs joined their owners Saturday evening to fight cancer. It was the first ever Greater Bangor Bark For Life, an event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.More than 130 people and more than 100 dogs took part. It’s the only event of its kind aimed at bringing canine members of the family along to walk with their owners who might be a cancer survivor or currently battling cancer. It’s also a reminder that dogs get cancer too.”Recent studies have shown that human cancer and canine cancer are very similar so once we find a cure for one, we’ll find a cure for both. And hopefully we’ll have events like this to celebrate no more cancer as opposed to fighting it,” said Event Chair Lisa Eldridge. The goal was to raise $10,000 from the event. Organizers tell us they exceeded it.
