Updated 2 years ago

Class B State Track Championship invading Mount Desert Island. There’s the girls race walkers. Riley Jones and Audrey Jones from Winslow placing 2nd and 3rd in that event. To the high jump, there’s freshmen Nicole Nicholls competing for Medomak Valley. She’d finish in the top ten. Old Town’s Tia Jackson placing 2nd in the event.Boys Shotput, Nick Margitza of Waterville taking home the crown, followed by Yannick Price-Prevot from Medomak and hometown guy Jayson Burke from MDI.Love the look on Delainey Kein’s face as she tries to put some distance on her long jump. She’s from Mount View and was part of the first heat for the girls, as was Hermon’s Kaylin Rogers. Her best jump was just over 14 feet. The overall winners today were Falmouth and York for the boys. For the girls, it was Waterville that dominated. Alex Jenson justing beating out her teammates, Olivia Thurston and Sarah Shoulta in the 110 meter hurdles.Another big contributor to Waterville’s state title was Bethanie Brown, who set a new state record for Class B in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:55.23. I caught up with her after she set the new mark.
