Union Nurses Agree to 3-Year Contract with EMMC

Union nurses at Eastern Maine Medical Center have approved a three-year contract. According to the Maine State Nurses Association, 56% of voting members agreed to the deal on Tuesday. Hospital officials say the agreement is a result of compromise from both sides and is in the best interest of patients, employees and the community. Earlier this month nurses held an information picket outside of the hospital. Two of the major sticking points in the negotiations were increases in staff and security.
