The U.S. Senate has passed a bill that would ban the sale of synthetic marijuana and other drug-like products that can be used to make bath salts.Senator Susan Collins backed the bill saying: “Quite simply, these chemicals are dangerous and do not belong on store shelves. I am deeply concerned with the terrible effects of chemicals on people in Maine, and across the country. The longer we wait to seriously address this issue, the more people we put at risk.”Legislation similar to this bill has already passed in the House. It would treat chemicals found in synthetic pot products just like drugs such as methamphetamine and cocaine.
