Canadian Railway Strike Affects Maine Workers 

59 workers from Maine at the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway were temporarily laid off this week because of a workers strike at Canada’s second largest railway.Almost 5,000 workers are on strike at Canadian Pacific Railway.They went on strike last Wednesday, forcing MM&A to notify workers Friday that they wouldn’t be able to come to work this week.MM&A President and CEO, Robert Grindrod, said he hopes to be able to resume work soon, though.A proposal was introduced to the Canadian parliament Monday that could force employees at CP Rail to get back to work by the end of the week.
