One person is dead after a car and a landscaping truck crashed on outer Union Street in Bangor Friday morning. The victim was the art teacher at the Glenburn School, Jacqualine McTigue, she was on her way to work Friday morning when the crash happened. Police say, she was pulling out of her driveway on Union Street and hit a Hopkins Landscaping Truck. The truck tried to avoid the car but McTigue’s car was hit just behind the driver’s side door. The car spun and the driver was thrown from the vehicle. Police say, they don’t believe she had a seatbelt on.Since the accident happened right in front of her house, her family knew immediately. Police say, it does not appear speed is a factor, they expect to release more information later on.Counselors are available for students and staff, the school already had a scheduled half day Friday, but some parents did choose to pick up their kids earlier. TV 5 has talked with the superintendent, he says the students and staff are doing as well as can be expected, and called McTigue a wonderful art teacher who will be very missed. Sgt. Ed potter (bangor police department)- “It’s surreal for them. I’ve talked to them a half a dozen times, offering anything we can for assistance. In this type of situation there’s not a lot you can do. They’re going to have to be together and share a lot of time. There’s nothing that can really comfort them”
