A facility for female inmates is moving from Bangor to the York County Jail. Department of Corrections officials decided to relocate the Women’s Reentry Center after ending the contract with Volunteers of America, which ran the facility. Instead it will be managed by the DOC.The facility helps women prepare for life after prison. DOC officals say the new location will offer space for 67 female inmates with three years or less left on their sentence. That’s double the capacity of the Bangor facility. The transition is expected to be complete by the beginning of July.
