It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and at the Asa Adams School in Orono students and parents are making sure it’s a celebration. There’s nothing like a refreshing treat to break up the hustle and bustle of a work day. ” Just a little pick-me-up for the teachers, just to let them know that we’re thinking of them,” said Lisa Fox, as she offers iced coffee, iced tea and lemonade to teachers. It’s a tradition that’s been going on at the Asa Adams School for more than a decade. ” They always shower us with lots of treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. It’s really nice,” said Patrick Allen, a 5th grade teacher at the school. Parents get together and come up with ways to say say thanks. ” We definitely love our teachers,” said Fox, who is a PTO member. Students and parents also write notes to teachers, letting them know how much they appreciate them. ” It’s nice to know that any special efforts that we make that might go above and beyond, that it’s noticed,” said Sally Brooker, a 4th grade teacher at the school. Goodies are delivered classroom to classroom, including popcorn and chocolate. ” It’s hard to stay on a diet this week, but all the teachers look forward to it that’s for sure,” said Allen with a smile. It’s a small way for students and parents to say thanks, for an A+ job. There are Teacher Appreciation events at the school all week. Wednesday there will be a big luncheon, Thursday is dessert day and things wrap up Friday with a breakfast.
