17th Annual Tourism Awards in Hermon 

The individuals in our community that help bring tourists our way were honored this evening.It was the 17th Annual Tourism Awards Event and Silent Auction Tuesday night at the Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon.The yearly event held by the Greaer Bangor Convention and Visitor’s Bureau was hosted by comedian Jimmy Dunn.Awards were given to the folks who went above and beyond this year to keep visitors coming to Maine.The 2012 Individual Achievement Eagle Award went to “Timber” Tina Scheer. Timber Tina is known nationally for appearing in the reality show, Survivor, as well as her yearly summer lumberjack and jill show in Trenton.Her support of this area is why she was chosen this year.”How she really just talks about Maine as a destination and a place to live, work and play. And we’re really appreciative of all the work that all the folks do,” said Kerrie Tripp, the GBCVB Executive Director.”You know, you work really hard for a long time and sometimes you think nobody’s watching and then all of sudden you’re honored with an award and it really makes you feel like you’re hard work has paid off,” said Scheer.The event was also a fundraiser for the Bangor visitor’s bureau.
