The American Lung Association released their State of the Air report Wednesday in Augusta. The report grades the air quality and amount of pollution we breathe in here in Maine. All 16 counties are graded on their air quality.Penobscot and Washington Counties were among those who saw improvement over last year, while Piscataquis County was among those that saw their grade worsen. Bangor made the list of cleanest cities when it comes to air pollution. The American Lung Association of Maine is calling on Congress to to strengthen the air quality standards under the Clean Air Act. “The real battleground is in Washington,” Diane Haskell, of the American Lung Association of Maine, told the crowd at the State House. “And the outcome depends on whether our President, Senators, and Representatives will follow the science and stand up for our health, or side with the industry polluters.”The entire report is available at www.stateoftheair.org
