Fire in Hampden Destroys Home 

A fire that went unnoticed for about an hour Sunday destroyed a home in Hampden.Fire officials said they arrived at a home on Merchant Road around 3:15 p.m. after a neighbor noticed smoke and called 911. Hampden Fire Department Lt. Dan Pugsley said he lives minutes from the address and was the first to arrive, but by that point the home was already fully engulfed in flames.The homeowner was not there when the blaze broke out. Puglsey said they have not yet determined a cause, but the State Fire Marshal’s office has been called to investigate.
