Cupcake Wars Raises Over $300 for Walk to End Alzheimer’s Team 

There was a sweet battle going on at the Westgate Manor in Bangor.The healthcare facility’s Walk to End Alzheirmer’s team hosted its own version of cupcake wars.There were 26 different cupcakes from a range of flavors.The cupcakes were judged on flavor, consistency, frosting and overall appearance.The panel of judges included our very own Wayne Harvey.The event provides fun for residents while raising awareness to a serious issue.”Alzheimer’s really is a growing epidemic, one of the biggest risk factors is age and we have a very aging population and so we are seeing more and more people with Alzheimer’s,” Reflections Program Director Christie Miner said.The baby chick cupcakes took the top honor, they were made by Donna Boyington and Renee Farrington.After the event, folks could purchase the cupcakes.The group raised more than three hundred dollars.
