Wildland Fire Destroys Acres of Land 

A wildland fire in Orrington Tuesday destroyed nearly three acres.It started alongside the train tracks on Rt. 15 just before two o’clock in the afternoon.Fire officials say they’re not sure what sparked the blaze yet, but that this time of year, brush fires aren’t uncommon.”Especially because of the dry weather, the wind-fire danger today is high. It doesn’t take very much to spark this dry grass and the game is on,” said Chief Michael Spencer of the Orrington Fire Department.Firefighters were able to put the flames out within a half hour.
