Winning Mega Millions Tickets Sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland

Three tickets have split the record $640 million Mega Millions jackpot.The spokesman for the Illinois lottery Mike Lang says the winning tickets were in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland.He says the Illinois winning ticket was sold in the small town of Red Bud, near St. Louis. The Maryland lottery announced earlier its winner was from Baltimore County. No details have been released on the winning ticket in Kansas.Lang says each winning ticket was expected to be worth more than $213 million before taxes.Here in Maine, ticket sales for this Megamillions jackpot set a record.Maine State Lottery Operations Director Tim Poulin says more than 1.5 million tickets were sold between the last MegaMillions drawing Tuesday night and Friday afternoon. Sales in Maine were expected to top $1.8 million. Poulin says the previous record for a lottery was in 2006, when $1.4 million worth of tickets were sold for a Powerball jackpot.
