Even though the season’s over, we’re still talking about UMaine hockey, and that’s because the Black Bears have a player in the Hobey Baker Hat Trick. Spencer Abbott has been chosen as one of the final three players for college hockey’s top honor. Abbott joins Jack Connolly of Minnesota-Duluth, the team that UMaine lost to last weekend, and Colgate’s Austin Smith. Abbott had a great career for the Black Bears. He led Maine and the nation in scoring this past season with 21 goals and 41 assists for 62 points. The award will be handed out on Friday, April 6th in Tampa Bay, and hopefully his new AHL team will let him fly down for the ceremony.
