Credit Union Donates To Help Fight Hunger In Maine

In the last twenty-two years Maine Credit Unions have donated more than 4.3 million dollars to ending hunger in Maine.More money was added Monday.The Brewer Federal Credit Union presented a pair of checks to help battle hunger locally.Employee dress down days and an annual yard sale were among the events held to raise the money.A thousand dollars was given to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, and a little more than 2-thousand was given to the Brewer Christian Food Cupboard.Donations that will help a number of people in the area according to Jim Roche the President/Manager of the Brewer Christian Food Cupboard. “We budget about a thousand dollars a month for food that we pay out of our checking account so I can buy at least two months food, this will probably help close to 300 families, maybe 800 people.”Last year the ending hunger in maine campaign raised more than 440-thousand dollars.
