Valley Grange Turns to Students to Create Advertisment

The non-profit organization Valley Grange didn’t look too far when designing its latest ad.They turned to the students at Piscataquis Community Elementary School in Guilford for their artistic talents. They challeneged the students to create an advertisement. The winning designs will be published in a local newspaper.A hundred students participated but two winners from third and fourth grade were chosen to have their artwork featured in the publication.Principal Julie Orton says the assignment helped the students discover another passion: art.”It’s a real purpose for art so the kids can see there’s something outside of school and that art is a very real part of life,” she said. The first place ads will be published in the Wednesday edition of the Piscataquis Observer.
