The Women’s Initiative in Waterville is celebrating its first birthday Thursday.Founder Martha Dempski says it’s a place where women from all walks of life are welcome to come and spend time together.There’s a variety of activities, including crafting. Dempski says she’s trying to build a community of women that support each other, from all backgrounds.They’re celebrating with an open house. “In the future we hope to have new people get involved in our crafting circle. Learn new crafts. We recently got a loom and we’re going to start doing some rug twining,” Dempski said.The open house runs until 7:00 Thursday night. It’s located in the Stearns building on Main Street in Waterville.
