Senate President Kevin Raye Officially Running for 2nd District Congressional Seat

The March 15th filing deadline is fast approaching for candidates interested in running for Maine’s U.S. House and Senate seats.Many candidates have taken out paper work to file, but the first to officially do so is Maine Senate President Kevin Ray of Perry.The Republican submitted his nomination petition signatures Tuesday, March 6th to officially be in the Republican Party Primary for the Second Congressional District House of Representatives seat.Raye considered running for the U.S. Senate seat, which will be vacated by Senator Olympia Snowe, but opted instead to challenge for the US House seat currently held by Democrat Mike Michaud.All candidates need to get their petitions in by March 15th to be eligible for their party’s primary election.Independents do not have to file until June.
