Hancock and Aroostook Counties Won’t Lose Air Service

Good news for travelers in Hancock County and Aroostook County, you won’t loose air service. Last September, Colgan Air tried to break its contract with the US Department of Transportation but the DOT told Colgan to remain until after a replacement airline could be found. Friday, an airline was named to fly in and out of the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton and the Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle. ” It’s an Alaskan based airline, Penn Air, that is going to be taking over this service. I’ve met with the CEO and I’m convinced that , first of all, they know how to handle cold weather and that they’re very committed to serving Northern Maine,” said Senator Susan Collins. Senator Collins says this is a good thing for the economy and the residents of northern Maine.
