Maine Treasurer’s Income Filing At Issue

Updated 2 years ago

The Maine ethics commission’s staff says state Treasurer Bruce Poliquin should not be fined for failing to fully report his income on a disclosure report to the state. The Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices takes up Poliquin’s case on Wednesday. It stems from a Maine Democratic Party complaint alleging that Poliquin did not fully disclose the sources of his 2010 income in an annual statement filed with the commission.Poliquin, a Republican, responded that he intended to fully comply with the reporting requirements and that he had no income that created a conflict of interest. The commission staff recommends finding Poliquin failed to comply fully with the disclosure requirements, but it believes no penalty may be assessed.Poliquin says the complaint against him is politically motivated.
