There is going to be a change atop the Bangor Fire Department soon. For nearly the last 12 thousand days Jeff Cammack has been a member of the Bangor Fire Department. He started in 1979 with the department and in 1996 was promoted to Chief. He went through the Ice Storm of 1998, Y2K, the Masonic Hall fire. But he also saw a number of changes in his more than 15 years as chief, and the most notable had to do with an aspect not directly dealing with fighting fires.” We had one ambulance in service at the time, we didn’t have anything such as paramedics, now we have three ambulances, one out of each station with a long distance transfer truck and a back up truck. Last count just shy of 45-50 paramedics so there’s been a lot of changes. “The search for Cammack’s replacement is underway. The Bangor City manager and City Council will select a new chief.Cammack’s last day on the job is Wednesday and he’ll be officially retired at 4:30 p.m.
