Five Indian Tribes to Split Nearly $4 Million in HUD Money 

Five Indian tribes in Maine are splitting nearly $4 million in federal grants for housing. The money comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the benefit of low-income families.The Aroostook Band of Micmacs, the Houlton Band of Maliseets, the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Indian Township, the Penobscot Tribe and the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Tribe are dividing it up.The money can also be used for crime prevention and safety.
