Updated 2 years ago

Every year, about a hundred of the people staying at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter move into places of their own.The transition can be tough, but this weekend, local volunteers hope to make it easier.Volunteer group ‘Welcome to Housing’ will be trying to fill a truck with some basic household items. They hope their ‘Winter Whiteout Paper Drive,’ as they call it, will help folks get settled.”A lot of times when people are low on money it comes down to a choice between things like toilet paper and food. So, what we’re doing is we’re going to do our very best to stuff a truck filled with toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and so forth,” says volunteer Chris Olsen. To donate stop by Shaw’s on Main Street in Bangor between 10am and 4pm Saturday.
