Quartet Spreads Love on Valentine’s Day Through Music

A Bangor-based quartet is spreading the love on Valentine’s Day a song at a time. The Essex Street Junction played the role of cupid Tuesday surprising folks throughout Bangor by singing classic love songs.Lucky lovebirds not only got a song, but a rose and a box of chocolate. The quartet is part of the Mainely Music Chorus. Singing Valentines is their biggest fundraiser.”Generally we sing two songs Heart of my Heart and Let me call you Sweetheart also known as the Story of the Rose. They’re both over a hundred years old which demonstrates the staying power of a classic song. It’s as relevant today as it was when it was written,” said member Russ Van Arsdale. If you’d like to learn more about the Mainely Music Chorus, visit their website here.
