Occupy Maine Second Deadline Here

The deadline has arrived – again – for Occupy Maine to clear away its tent city in Lincoln Park. The city of Portland granted a four-day extension to vacate the park, and that deadline arrives Friday morning. Occupy Maine touted itself as the longest-running encampment, starting two weeks after the Occupy Wall Street with a demonstration in Portland’s Monument Square before moving to Lincoln Park.Last week, a judge rejected the group’s request for an injunction to remain in the park. The group plans to decide after cleaning up whether to continue pursuing the lawsuit. In the meantime, Occupy Maine already has office space and has said it intends to continue to get out its message about economic disparity and corporate greed.
