Maine Warden Service Urge Snowmobile Safety After Three Fatal Accidents

The Maine Warden Service is urging folks to practice snowmobile safety. This comes after a weekend involving three fatal crashes and other accidents involving injuries.Sixty-one-year-old Odias Bachelder of Lang Township was killed just after five Saturday night when his snowmobile left the interconnecting trail in Dallas Plantation, and he was ejected.They say he was wearing a helmet. He died immediately at the scene from apparent blunt force trauma.Authorities say he was found by two snowmobile companions who were following him.Fifty-six-year-old Mark Roux of Lee was also killed Saturday night.They say he crashed into a heavily wooded section off the shoreline on Bill Green Pond.Roux was pronounced dead while in route to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln.They say he was wearing a helmet.That crash remains under investigation too.
