UMaine Women’s Team Loses At Home To Siena

It was a busy day for UMaine athletes. While their classmates were hibernating for winter break, the Black Bear basketball and hockey teams were all in action. First, the women’s basketball team playing in front of the home crowd for just the second time this season, looking to end a six-game losing skid.With hockey out of town, the women’s team playing inside Alfond Arena tonight hosting the 1-7 Siena Saints.1st half, the Black Bears down four, and Samantha Baranowski posts up down low and scores on the turnaround lay-in, cutting the Siena lead to two.A few seconds later, UMaine goes to Courtney Anderson at the top of the keyand the freshman knocks down the three-ball. The Black Bears with a 22-21 lead.The rest of the night was all Siena. Later in the 1st, Christina Centenodrives through the lane and hits the soft jumper for two.Then with just seconds left in the half, Centeno passes ahead to Tehresa Coles who gets the lay-in to go just before the buzzer. The Saints would go on to hand the Black Bears their seventh straight loss, 78-51 the final.
