Augusta Police Investigating Report of Armed Robbery and Kidnapping

Augusta police are investigating a reported armed robbery and kidnapping.A 51-year-old woman told police she was leaving Wal-Mart just before 5:30 Tuesday night when a man approached her while she was getting to her car. She says the man showed a weapon and forced her into the front passenger’s seat of her car. The man reportedly drove the car to a bank and made the woman withdraw money from her ATM account. The suspect then reportedly drove the victim’s car to Mount Vernon Avenue in Augusta, leaving both the victim and the car there. The woman was not hurt. The suspect is described as a white male, early 20’s, between 5’9″ and 5’11”, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and a dark baseball cap with a white logo on the visor.
