EMCC Announces Hospitality Program, Partnership with Hollywood Slots 

Eastern Maine Community College is expanding.The college is partnering with Hollywood Slots Hotel and Raceway to begin a hospitality program.The college’s President Lawrence Barrett calls the Maine Hospitality Institute a first of its kind for the state.Prospective students can get an Associate’s Degree through the two year program, which will be fully transferable to four year colleges.”There’s been a big demand from industry employers asking us about the management components of it so we decided to come up with a stand alone associate’s degree in hospitality management tourism,” Barrett said.Through a partnership with Hollywood Slots, the school will offer specialized training programs to fill the 89 jobs that will be available when the business turns into Hollywood Casino next spring.Hollywood Slots is adding 14 table games after November’s referendum was approved.”We see this as kind of a jump start to the next wave of development in the entire region,” said John Osborne, Vice President of Hollywood Slots.Hollywood Slots is hosting a job fair on Friday and Saturday at the college’s Rangeley Hall.It will run from 9 am to 5 pm both days.For more information or to apply online, visit
