Friday night was opening night for alot of high school basketball teams. But some waiting an extra day to being their seasons. In Orono today, Caribou visiting John Bapst. Both teams making some noise in the Class B playoffs last season, and looking to get this season off on the right foot. Both teams with experience, John Bapst with six seniors on this year’s squad. This one was even early, but late in the 2nd quarter, Caribou goes on a run. John Bapst loses the ball, Katelynn Tardie runs it down, and easily lays it in for the Vikings. Caribou takes a 23-15 lead into halftime.Jump to the 4th quarter, there’s John Bapst senior captain Emily Tilton. She spots up from beyond the arc and nails the three. She had 14 in the game and the Crusaders come back to take the lead shortly after.Under a minute to go in the game and Caribou making it interesting.Down four points and it’s Tardie again, this time from downtown. But it would not be enough as John Bapst would ice the game with free throws and win it 42-36.
