From the Bangor Police Department:The Festival of Lights Parade and tree lighting ceremony at West Market Square will be held on Saturday, December 3. The parade staging area is on Front Street from the area of the Sea Dog restaurant to RailroadStreet. The parking lots on Summer Street (across from the former car dealership) may also be used. The route is as follows: Railroad Street to Main Street (through downtown) to Central Street (wrong way) to Harlow Street and onto Exchange Street where it will disband.Parade/Road Closure times: 4:15 PM – Main Street will be closed from Railroad Street to Hammond Street.Central Street, Harlow Street, State Street (downtown section/State Street hill) and Exchange Street will also be closed. The Tree Lighting ceremony will be in West Market Square. Once that is complete – spectators will be asked/ushered behind the ropes along Main Street for safety purposes prior to the start of the parade. 4:30 PM – The parade will begin at Main and Railroad Streets. Traffic crossing the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge from Brewer to Bangor will be diverted to Washington Street. The intersection of Main and Union Streets will be closed. Parking will not be permitted on Main Street (downtown), Central Street, Harlow Street (near City Hall) or Exchange Street after 2:30 PM on Saturday. These streets will posted Friday afternoon. The parade is expected to last approximately one and a half hours (approximately 75 vehicles/floats).
