Autopsy Results Released for Dispatcher Shot in Dover-Foxcroft

Officials say a Maine sheriff’s department dispatcher died of a single gunshot wound to the torso in a shootout with police after witnesses saw him fatally shoot his wife’s ex-husband. The attorney general’s office says the autopsy on 46-year-oldMichael Curtis, a Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Departmentdispatcher, was completed Wednesday. Police say Curtis went to the Hilltop Manor nursing home inDover-Foxcroft to kill 53-year-old Udo Schneider on Tuesday.Schneider, a maintenance worker, was shot multiple times, and newsphotos suggest upward of a dozen shell casings. Police then tracked Curtis to a nearby fairground where he wasshot by a state trooper. An autopsy on Schneider was under way Wednesday afternoon.Curtis was married to Schneider’s former wife, but police have notindicated the motive for the shooting.(AP)
