Union Street Athletics in Bangor Lets Members Break A Sweat and Help Two Great Causes
The folks at Union Street Athletics in Bangor are making sure their members can work off Thanksgiving dinner calories.” Thanksgiving is a very busy day for us actually. I think people are aware of calories and they want to make a little calorie credit first thing in the morning and get the day started off in a positive way,” said owner, Sherry Haller.Besides letting them break a sweat, they are also helping out two great causes.” We’re helping to first of all raise funds for men’s health issues. Movember is the title, all the guys grow moustaches and it just creates an awareness and so then people will ask what’s the moustache about? And then secondly this morning we’re here, people are donating food and we’re going to bring that to Manna to help those folks out too,” said Haller.Members take full advantage of the pre turkey workout.” People’s spirits are high. In part because it’s fun, the music is great and the instructor Scott is awesome. And the fact that we’re healthy enough to be able to come and exercise like this and there are people that can’t, we’re thankful,” said member, Ric Tyler.Everyone agrees this is the time of year when it’s important to think of others.” Members are always very generous, very happy to help. I think we all just want to help in any way we can and so they’re very generous over the holidays in particular. I think our hearts are a little more open,” said Haller.” I’m never surprised by the generosity of this community. What I am surprised about is that more people didn’t grow the moustache,” said Tyler.
