Solidarity Harvest Distributes 550 Bags of Food to Laid-Off Workers

The Eastern Maine Labor Council and Food and Medicine are helping laid off workers get a Thanksgiving meal.The two groups came together to create baskets filled with the all of the ingredients for a tasty turkey dinner.550 baskets are being delivered to families in Brewer, Millinocket and surrounding areas, they say that’s almost double than last year’s amount.The food comes from local farmers and businesses.Organizer Willow Cordes-Eklund calls it a “win win” for the state of Maine.”We’re supporting the Maine economy as a whole through this great sign of support and solidarity,” says organiezer Willow Cordes-Eklund.This is the ninth year they’ve hosted Solidarity Harvest.
