Two bridges on Route 27 in Carrabassett Valley that were destroyed during Tropical Storm Irene are now back open. The North Branch Bridge and Brackett Brook Bridge both collapsed withing minutes of each other when water overflowed the roadway.Bruce Van-Note with the Maine DOT says the destruction cut off the link to Canada and affected regional business.Crews worked around the clock with an aggressive schedule to repair the bridges. It took them 83 days.”When you set a goal that everybody buys into everybody starts rolling in the right direction, we can do just about anything and 83 days is proof of that,” he said.According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Irene dumped more than 8-and-a-half inches of rain in Carrabassett Valley in August.
