Restaurants Searched by ICE Agents Part of Homeland Security Investigation
The search of several Chinese food restaurants in Maine and a home in Brewer on Wednesday was part of an ongoing investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.Court documents say Homeland Security has been investigating Zi Qian Zhang and his wife Ai Hui Lu for five years. The Zhang organization owns several Chinese restaurants in Maine including Twin Super Buffet in Brewer. They also own a home in Brewer that authorities say has been a safe house for illegal aliens.Crimes they’re accused of include hiring, harboring and transporting illegal aliens and money laundering.On Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were at Twin Super Buffet. A person who works near the Super China Buffet in Waterville told us that restaurant was searched too.
