UPDATE: Police Release Cause of Deadly Carmel Crash 

State Police say speed is the cause of a deadly car crash in Carmel.Two teenagers were killed Monday night.Police say 14-year old Richard Picken of Carmel and 16-year old James McPhearson of Levant died at the scene.We’re told the boys were about to become step-brothers.They were traveling along Irish Road when the car hit a utility pole near the Fuller Road intersection, knocking down power lines.The Irish Road was shut down while crews cleaned up the scene.Hermon High School provided counseling for students and staff Tuesday. Principal Brian Walsh says the school extends its condolences and prayers to the families and friends of the young men who died.There is a memorial fund set up in the boys’ names.Folks can donate to the McPhearson and Picken Memorial Fund at any branch of the Seaboard Federal Credit Union.Checks can be mailed to the Hermon Branch at PO Box 6359, Hermon, Maine 04402.
