A man accused of attacking a Rockland police officer while possibly under the influence of bath salts remains behind bars after his first court appearance Monday.A judge ordered David Carver,36, of Rockland to be held without bail for a probation violation. Bail was set at $5,000 for several other charges, including the most serious one of assault on an officer. Police say they tried to arrest Carver last Monday on outstanding warrants. They tell us Carver fought with an officer who then turned a taser on him.Police say Carver ran off and was nabbed near a construction site by a second police officer with help from two construction workers.Police believed Carver may have been on bath salts at the time but prosecutors say he’s not being charged with that crime. He is facing charges for allegedly having cocaine and morphine. Carver was treated at a hospital and finally transferred to the Knox County Jail over the weekend.A police officer was treated for minor injuries, too.
