Spirit of Halloween Visits Bangor Hospital

The spirit of Halloween arrived at a hospital in Bangor Monday.St. Joseph Hospital hosted its annual Great Pumpkin and Costume contest. Some of the employees have been working for months on their creations. Third place for the pumpkin carvinvgs went to Alice in Wonderland. A pink painted pumpkin, dressed in honor of breast cancer awareness month, took second place. And first place honors went to the Gastrointestinal Girls and their display, Scoping Up My Back Door.Employees say the day is fun for patients, too.Bonnie Richards says, “I think they kinda get a hoot out of it. I walk in and say I’m just dressed up as Alice in Wonderland today. But I think it’s kind fun for people to see what we’re going and it kinda takes their mind off what they were worried about, just for a minute.”As for the dress-up part of the contest, the reimbursement department’s rendition of Alice in Wonderland won for Best Themed costume. Jack and Jill took the award for the Most Original costume. And the Judge’s Favorite award went to Wilma and her beautiful baby, Pebbles.
