Ceremony Honors Female War Veterans 

One hundred female veterans were honored for their service in Augusta Thursday.Female veterans from World War II up until present day wars in Iraq and Afghanistan received coins and certificates.There are 10-thousand Maine women veterans but no recorded list. State Representative Linda Valentino says it’s an effort to ensure that no veteran is left behind.”Things are different I think today with the women and this was a way to reach back also to let women know we appreciate them and we value their service for what they did in past wars”While they each represent a different time in our country’s history, these women are forever bonded by a sisterhood few can understand.First Lady Ann LePage says, “A veteran, is a veteran, is a veteran and you hear a lot about male veterans, so it’s nice to put female veterans in the fore front.”
