Voters will head to the polls in less than three weeks to weigh in on four statewide referendum questions, as well as a number of other local issues. The Secretary of State is reminding voters who plan to cast an absentee ballot, the deadline for requesting one has moved up to the Thursday before election day, as part of a new state law. For the November 8th election, that means absentee requests must be in no later November 3rd.The other part of the law would push back same-day voter registration, too. That’s on hold while Mainers decide whether to support or reject that change, which is the first referendum question on the ballot.Until the issue’s settled, first-time voters can still register on election day.
