Corinna Man Accused of Dexter Gun Theft, High-Speed Chase Remains in Jail
A man from Corinna accused of stealing a gun then leading police on a high-speed chase through Dexter is being held without bail. 35-year-old Lawrence Cyr is charged with theft of a firearm, eluding police and violating bail conditions.He made his first court appearance on the charges Wednesday.Authorities say he took the gun Tuesday from Pond View Gun Shop in Dexter.Police chased Cyr on side streets, where they say he reached speeds up to 60 miles per hour.Cyr lost control of his car and hit a telephone pole. He then reportedly ran off before police caught up with him.A judge set bail Wednesday at $10,000. But prosecutors say Cyr was out on bail for two other cases of theft and stealing drugs. The judge revoked bail on those charges and sent Cyr back to jail. He’s due in court, again, next month.
