UMaine Football Continues to Roll with Win Over Rhode Island

While the UMaine hockey team has been slow getting out of the gate, the UMaine football team just continues to roll. This afternoon the Black Bears playing their homecoming game as 12th ranked UMaine hosts Rhode Island.In a game you could see right here on TV Five. Warren Smith has been one of the top QB’s in the nation this year.First quarter, Smith finds a wide open Pusahun Brown for a 22-yard touchdown. PAT gives UMaine a 7-0 lead.Rhode Island trying to come back in it. Travis Hurd takes it up the middle. Racking up yardage, but he fumbles the ball. The Black Hole defense comes up big. Kendall James with the recovery.And the very first play after the turnover. Warren Smith on playaction connects with Maurice McDonald. He can walk in for the t-d. 21-yards. Maine up 14-0.Black Bears up 21-7 in the third. The defense does it again. The pass is tipped at the line. Vinson Givans is in the right place, right time. Reels it in for the pick six. That put Maine up 27-7. Rhode Island would make a charge but the Black Bears hang on for a 27-21 win over Rhode Island.
