UPDATE: Bangor and Newport Police Investigating Two Early Morning Stabbings

Two early morning stabbings have Bangor and Newport police trying to figure out what happened. Sgt. Paul Edwards with the Bangor Police Department says they got a call just after 5 o’clock Wednesday morning a man was at Eastern Maine Medical Center being treated for a stab wound. Police were told the stabbing might have happened in Bangor. In a separate incident, Newport Police Chief Leonard Macdaid says Jonathan Lehman was stabbed in Bangor Tuesday night and then found in the parking lot of the Irving in Newport. An employee at the Irving tells TV 5 the victim had a stab wound to the abdomen and cut on the back of his head. Macdaid says 37 year old Shauna Smart of St. Albans was with Lehman and was taken into custody for violating conditions of release and drug charges. Lehman was initially taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield and has since been transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.There have been no charges in connection with either stabbing and police aren’t saying if they’re related.
