Protecting the public is part of a firefighter’s job, but members of the Bangor Fire Department are working to save lives in another way. This month, they’re selling T-shirts to raise money for breast cancer research. It’s part of a project by the International Association of Firefighters to benefit the Komen Foundation. Each participating fire station made their own design. Bangor’s navy blue T-shirts feature a photo of two firefighters on a search and rescue mission and the words, “Searching for a cure.””The firefighters paid for the first 200 t-shirts. So when we sell them all the profits will be going right to Komen, so we should raise at least a minimum of $3,000 throughout the month,” said Casey Perry of the Bangor Fire Department. The shirts cost $15.00 each.To buy one, you can visit the Bangor Fire Department’s website and download the order form. Then send your check or money order to Casey Perry, c/o Bangor Professional Firefighters, 168 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
